I was very excited to hear about something not mentioned in the newsletter, namely the advancement of the Wesel branch into a ward. This means that Germany's overall ledger for the year is now +1 ward (Bad Saeckingen and Wesel added, Tiergarten closed) and -2 branches (Bad Saeckingen and Wesel), which is quite good compared to the last few years. The Wesel Ward in particular is remarkable because it is situated is a relatively thinly populated area with only two medium-sized cities: Wesel and Moers. Both of these cities are smaller than several other cities nearby without a congregation. The two remaining branches in the Duesseldorf Germany Stake are also quite large and may advance to ward status in the next few years if growth trends continue.

The two stakes in western Germany (Duesseldorf and Dortmund) now have 15 wards and 5 branches, but it is definitely possible to imagine that the Bielefeld and Kassel Wards and the Osnabrueck Branch could move over from the Hanover Stake, and the Koblenz Branch could move from the Friedrichsdorf Stake, in a large realignment to form a third stake in western Germany sometime in the coming years.

Apologies - somehow I mixed up Kleve and Moers (which is part of the Duisburg Ward). This is why I should not be doing this from memory.

If you request access to LDS Maps I have found that they allow you to continue viewing the boundaries for wards and stakes, just as before. There is a link to request it where it notifies that the site will be retired

@Pascal, you forgot that the Berlin (English) Branch also became a ward while the Tiergarten Ward was closed. So Germany is up 2 wards.

Hello! It is always a source of joy to see the church grow, although I feel that this growth is slowing down. In my opinion, the church is stagnant, the baptized and leaders asleep, there is little or no work of the callings.

I am Chilean from Santiago, and I know I have said this several times, my country has been stagnant for decades, of course, it is not just Chile, it happens everywhere, I feel that the pandemic contributed to inactivity, I think that leaders are prophets and apostles must make changes, and provide solutions to real problems in the church.

I hope in this new conference, a temple will be announced in Osorno or Puerto Montt, Viña del Mar and Punta Arenas, I know that there are not so many active, although with the few that there are, without a doubt, much can be done, since they are baptized consecrated.

There is money in the church, to have more temples, to clean the chapels that are getting dirtier every day. There is money to fix the family history centers, it is embarrassing to see the bad PCs. It is urgent that the church put leaders who magnify their callings.

New: San Marcos California Stake
A new stake organized in California today, 11-Sept-2022. The new San Marcos California Stake was created from a reorganization of the Vista California and Escondido California Stakes. It is the first stake created in the golden state since the founding of the Lincoln California Stake in 2013 and becomes the 155th stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California. This event takes place adjacent to the fiftieth anniversary of the Escondido Stake, first organized on 24-Sept-1972.

This is a significant development for a state that seen several stake consolidations in recent years, primarily attributable to some significant population changes. Elder Mark D. Eddy and Elder Voi B. Taeoalii, both General Authority Seventy, presided over this change which included a staggering 41 interview conducted in one day.

I echo the comments from Brother Escobar about Church facilities. The buildings have never been the same since routine cleaning was given to the members. Many buildings are shabby and cluttered. Let's get rid of the messes!

Sad to read that the Orem Utah Temple fire was arson. Isn't there around-the-clock security personnel assigned to temples under construction? What about security measures for operating temples. Does anyone know about that?
