I have updated my temple prediction map in preparation for General Conference in October. Several variables are used to identify prospective sites for future temple announcements. These include: the size of the Church in a given area (stakes, districts, wards, and branches), the age of the oldest stake, growth trends, distance to the nearest temple, traffic and transportation considerations, temple square footage, the historical number of weekly endowment sessions, and member/missionary reports on activity, temple attendance, and convert retention. Altogether, there are 186 potential temples on the map (which is 8 potential temple sites less than the total number of potential sites identified in March 2025, continuing a trend for many years of temple growth outpacing other growth metrics for the Church). The following five locations have been added to the temples prediction map with this current update - all of which are less likely temples:
- Cheyenne, Wyoming
- Eldoret, Kenya
- Fort Myers, Florida
- Greensboro, North Carolina
- Providence, Rhode Island
Also, there were two locations that were moved from the less likely to be announced list to the more likely to be announced list. Provided with a reasoning for the transfer from the less likely temples to be announced list to the more likely temples to be announced list, these locations include:
- Augusta, Maine (remote location, third stake recently organized in Maine, no temple in the United States in the Northeast north of Boston, Massachusetts)
- Kinshasa DR Congo Kimbanseke (Kinshasa is now the metropolitan area with the most stakes of any city on the Afro-Eurasian landmass with 17, and several more stakes appear likely to be organized in the immediate future; rapid growth, high rates of member activity and convert retention, difficulty traveling to the current temple from far eastern areas of the metropolitan area)
- Tema, Ghana (12 stakes in the immediate Accra, Ghana and Tema, Ghana area, with four more stakes on the outskirts of the city; a couple stakes likely to divide in the near future; moderate growth in the city during the past two decades; improving accessibility to the temple for stakes in the northeast area of the metropolitan area)
- Yopougon, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan is the metropolitan city on the Afro-Eurasian landmass with the second most stakes (16) with a couple additional stakes likely to be organized soon; high rates of growth in the past decade; high Latter-day Saint density in the city population in the Yopougon area)
For the first time, I am providing my top 20 most likely locations for a temple announcement this October. With 15–20 temples announced in nearly every General Conference for several years, expanding the prediction list feels appropriate. I welcome your own prediction lists and insights in the comments. However, I anticipate that this period of rapid temple expansion will eventually wind down, as the overall growth of the Church has not kept pace with the rate of temple announcements.
- Angeles or Olongapo, Philippines
- Bo, Sierra Leone
- Port Harcourt, Nigeria
- Rigby, Idaho
- Lomé, Togo
- Southeast Salt Lake City, Utah (i.e., Cottonwood Heights, Holladay, or Sandy)
- Evanston, Wyoming
- San Pablo City, Philippines
- Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
- Ibadan, Nigeria
- Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
- Lilongwe, Malawi
- Santa Maria, Brazil
- Augusta, Maine
- Kimbanseke, Kinshasa, DR Congo
- Tema, Ghana
- Yopougon, Côte d’Ivoire
- San Luis Valley, Colorado
- Longview, Texas
- Lahore, Pakistan

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 283 of 283Good to know. This would allow the Crisiuma Stake leaders from having to cover so many units in a large geographical area and focus on the more populated portion of the stake. The responsibility of handling Tubarão District will of course fall on the mission.

Chris D and others who may be interested,
For next weekend, I’ll be keeping an eye on the Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo Ngaliema Stake for a possible split at its stake conference . The stake has 11 wards. I know not all 11 ward stakes split, but the pace of growth in Kinshasa and the rumors about aggressive stake creation in the Africa Central Area make this a logical candidate.
Thank you Michael W. I, for one greatly appreciate your comment.
Hey Matt, just curious, when will the next update to the new stakes/districts sidebar on the home page be coming?
I wonder if when the prophet will
Announce a temple in the Lesser Antilles?
Durham, I hope this update helps you. Since Matt's last update,

It was posted above also, that this sunday, September 21st, the Beaumont Alberta Stake will be organized by the President of the Canada Area.
And it's been reported on social media, the Tarawa Kiribati North District will become a new Stake next month. Most likely during the District conference on October 25th and 26th, just one month after its last conference on September 14th. on Facebook posts. it's been refered to as the Temaiku District. So I think it could be called the Temaiku Stake. But that is my humble opinion.
Just posted on Newsroom site, the Groundbreaking announced for the Kumasi Ghana Temple and Cape Town South Africa Temple, and the site location for the Ulaanbaatar Mongolia Temple.
https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/two-groundbreakings-in-africa-and-mongolia-temple-site-announced
I’m very happy to see today’s temple updates. I’m glad that progress on African Temples is moving forward; I’ve been anticipating the groundbreaking announcement for Cape Town for some time now. I’m also very happy about the site location and exterior rendering release for the Ulaanbaatar Temple, as I was expecting that one to move along at a much slower pace. Maybe it will still be a while before we see a groundbreaking date, but I’m still happy that we got to the exterior rendering in under 2 years after its announcement.
@Thomas Wagner
I'm excited about Cape Town, too.
I recently became friends with a kind man in my ward from there.

Great list Chris, thanks! Wasn't there also a Spanish-speaking stake in Southern California that was consolidated recently?
Caleb, Yes, thank you for reminding me. I had forgotten about that one also end of August.

Temple Texas Temple has no replaced Waco as one of my guesses for a temple. It is just a great name Temple Temple.
So far, the changes yesterday, in Brazil and Kiribati have not been reported / updated on the Church Directory of Organizations and Locations, or the Meetinghouse site.
Here's a Facebook post reporting on the new Centerton AR stake created from the Bentonville stake. Not sure if it's public so everyone can see. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GhfCtHUy7/

Chris D. How many newly organized stakes are we at this year so far?
Thank you everyone for tracking stake/district creations/closures. I have updated the side bar. Let me know if I missed anything.
Thanks! Looks like the Temple Texas Stake and the Tarlac Philippines South Stake may still be missing.
Thanks Caleb - Added! With reports I have gotten from the Africa Central Area, it sounds like we may have another dozen of so new stakes before the end of the year just in that area, but I am a bit skeptical if this is realistic. Also, we have had a dismal year for new stake creations in the Africa West Area thus far. We may see a big jump before the end of 2025.
If the year ended right now, we’d have the most net stake creations since 2017. I join Matt in hoping for an uptick in African stakes in the rest of the year, but this is all very good more generally.
If so, it will likely be Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. It's the only island with a stake that can support a temple. All other locations has three or less branches. It's not on my top 20, but it's still on the next 40 on my list.
If I had to guess, it will be announced sometime in 2026 at current rate of announcements. However, I'm frequently wrong so don't hold me to it.
The one drawback to an announcement in Trinidad and Tobago, is that they greatly restricts the number of missionaries to the island. That maybe why the mission home/office moved to Guyana.
This is still by far the most likely location in the Lesser Antilles as every other island has three or less branches which would make it very hard for a temple to be supported by the local members. Jamaica with a stake and a district is the only other possible temple location I see for the Caribbean.
Other Matt here...
LDS Church buys $60M Aiea site, former home of Kamehameha Drive-In (locals think it's for the new Honolulu Temple).
https://www.bizjournals.com/pacific
Looking at the Meetinghouse map. 5 of the 6 Wards of the new Temple Texas Stake all meet in the same building. I wonder if another building is being built in the area.
So looks like a news organization broke it before the church? A temple to be built in Southlake, Texas.
https://fox5sandiego.com/business/press-releases/ein-presswire/846061100/olerio-homes-announces-sale-of-carroll-crossing-development-site-in-southlake-texas/
Did the news organization speculate that the land was purchased for the building of a temple or did the Church confirm that? Just curious because the article doesn't make a distinction
No idea, guess we'll find out.
Chris D., I too was glad to see those announcements. My mom is a South African native, so she's familiar with all 3 cities in that nation that have temples announced. She was elated to hear of the site cleaning and now the groundbreaking for the Cape Town Temple.
Oddly enough,, no rendering was released on the main Newsroom of on for the Kumasi Ghana Temple, but that rendering was included on the African Newsroom edition of that report. Weird..But it did match the rendering image given to the king of the Kumasi region of Ghana a couple of years ago, so now we know it's the real rendering.
Many people outside the church may not know the difference between a meeting house and a temple. That property appears smaller than an investment property but bigger than a meetinghouse property. It's possible that both a meeting house and a temple could be built on that lot. Then we could have both a Salt Lake Temple and a South Lake Temple. I understand that the actual town name (Zoetermeer) for The Hague Netherlands Temple translates as Sweet Lake. As far as some potential guesses for first temples in some countries, I wonder if the international relations with neighboring countries may impact temple choices due to the ability to freely cross the borders or not. For example are the citizens of Malawi able to easily cross the border Visa free to get to a temple. Also, can the citizens of Togo and Benin easily crossbover to Ghana or Nigeria. I understand that's one reason why temples have been placed in Tijuana and announced for Reynosa Mexico even though there's some temples right across the border in which would be the same metropolitan area if there wasn't a border.
In the Cheltenham England Stake (515299), the Worcester Ward (69841) and the Evesham Branch (366390), recently combined to become the Malvern Hills Ward (69841).

As was reported this week on another site. If i name the source, some people here get angry.
So, i will just show the map link to the Stake units.
I don't have a top list anymore. I just have a list of 28: Prince George, Canada, Redding or Chico, Cal, Palm Springs, Cal, Rigby, Id, Tremonton ,Ut, North Ogden, UT, West Valley, UT, Holladay, UT., Washington, Ut, Apache Junction, AZ., Shreveport, LA, Jackson MS., Charleston, WV, Cabo San Lucas, Mx., Aguas Calientes, MX., Cuernavaca, Mx., Kingston, JM., Barcelona, VZ., Neugen or Trelew, AR., Reykjavik, IS., Cardiff, Wales, Vilnius, LT., Munich, of Berlin, DE., Tirana, AL., New Delhi, In., Hobart, AU., One for the Solomon Is. And one for the Marshall Is. I am not really sure that the New Caledonia Temple counts as part of the Solomon Is.
Some people are concerned regarding the other site/source. Nobody is angry, sorry if you thought otherwise.
Tyler or Longview Texas is possible. What do you all think of Garden City Kansas. As far as I can gather it appears to be the furthest steak in the continental United States from a temple. As far as distance maybe we should put Juneau Alaska on a potential temples list. I also like to see a temple in the federated States of Micronesia and on the Marshall Islands. Punta Arenas Chile orTierra del Fuego Argentina. Nuequen Argentina. The Canary Islands of Spain. Hobart or Davenport on the island of Tasmania Australia. Dunedin or Christ Church on the South Island of New Zealand. A dark horse pick for Moore Idaho. (It could cover three stakes in central Idaho including Salmon, Carey, and Moore and maybe part of a fourth in Terreton). I also anticipate the temple announced for Rigby soon and eventually temples in Ammon and Blackfoot. I hope for Otavalo and Machala Ecuador. Eventually Bend Oregon and Yakima Washington. And of course several temples more on the African continent, which locations have been mentioned in posts on this blog.
The Church just announced plans to update the Provo MTC.
https://www.thechurchnews.com/members/2025/09/16/church-announces-significant-update-provo-missionary-training-center/
Does anyone have updates on the Peru temples? The Lima Los Olivos Temple was dedicated in early 2024 but no other temples have started construction. I believe there are six other temples that have been announced. I would love to see a temple announced in Chimbote, but I think it is unlikely any new temples will be announced in Peru until the others at least start construction.
I do not have a one-stake temple district in my top 20 partly because my formulas don't place them there. However, one was announced this past April, and I'm sure there will be more isolated stakes getting one.
There's a number of individual isolated stakes that require overnight travel to its temple
While there's none on my Top 20, my next group, Somewhat Likely 40, has a handful of locations that would have one stake and one prospective location with just districts. These include:
- Vernon British Columbia
- Las Palmas Spain
- Dar es Salaam Tanzania
Ones that have one stake but with other districts include:
- Kingston Jamaica
- Port of Spain Trinidad and Tobago
- Tirana Albania
- Puerto Princesa Philippines
- Haʻapai Tonga
One in my Somewhat Likely 40 has just districts:
-Lahore Pakistan

FYI: Nouméa New Caledonia Temple was announced in April. What surprised me is that it's not a big isolated stake, but a relatively small isolated stake (6 wards, 3 Branches).
There is already a temple in Cuernavaca Mexico:
https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/cuernavaca-mexico-temple/
Or are you predicting a second one?
David, I had the Prince George British Columbia Stake on my radar a few years ago, when it also would have included the now defunct Terrace British Columbia District (before it was merged with the Stake). As being quite remote from both Anchorage Alaska or Vancouver BC Temples. I believe to be the next closest either way. Maybe you feel Vernon has a better chance than Prince George. I know Matt has since placed Prince George on his Potential Locations map as a remote possibility.
Scooter, here's the latest I know of:
https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/cusco-peru-temple/
https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/iquitos-peru-temple/
https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/chorrillos-peru-temple/
Wait, is that $60 million for the location that may end up being the Honolulu Temple? The estimated building cost I saw for the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple back in 2009 was $70 million. To be fair I have no idea if that included the cost of the land itself. Nor if it was just for the temple or covered the adjacent meetinghouse/family history center. Or if it included the cost of the parking garage. Thry probably went over cost. For reasons I do not understand thry paid a second firm to redo the architectural plans. The lead architect on the initial plans was Jeff Stebar, whose dad was my bishop when I was a teenager.
I know Hawaiian real estate is expensive, but that still blows my mind.
One factor in the temple for Angola is that it is undoubtedly to cross from Angola to DR Comgo, so you have to fly to Johannesburg to go to the temple.
Since The temple patron fund will cover travel cost but not the visa or other costs to cross an international boundary it is much easier to have a temple in your country.
In the case of Malawi the distance to either Harare or Beira is so great a trmple soon would be good. The distance between the two stakes is also big enough that having both locations have a temple will be good, but one will have a temple first.
A typo may have made my comment on thd Temple Texas Temple obscure. I think a Temple Texas Temple to cover Temple, Kileen and Waco would make sense. I am not sure the distances from Austin and Fort Worth are enough to make this group of 3 stakes one that would get a temple now, we shall see.
FYI, for any that are interested, with Conference Weekend just around the corner. I know i have recently posted this map link. But I am posting it again, for any that want to use it for another resource.
This is a composite World Map of all of the Cumorah Foundation's International Atlas - Country and States Encyclopedic-type articles. Of all the current Church Missions and Stakes/Districts Boundaries approximately. Organiized in the Sidebar contents list by Continent (so far North and South America, Europe and the Africa Central and South Areas, rest to come). Those by Church Areas groupings, and those by Missions and finally by the assigned Stakes/Districts of each Mission).
With some updates/corrections needed. Also, the Area and Mission folders in sidebar each when selected, open the Information Box with a clickable screenshot of their boundaries as they were officially between July/August 2022, just before the old Classic Maps site went offline.

I have left the link editable by anyone with the link.
When i have completed the rest of Africa West, Middle East/Africa North, Asia, Asia North, Pacific and Philippines Church Areas downloads from the Cumorah Foundation maps, I will go back and try to make the corrections. If Matt doesn't make the changes before me. (For the recent Mission and Stake boundary mergers/splits/changes).
So I can finally publish an alphabet book for children featuring temples. LOL. I'm kidding. It got is just for curiosity and enjoyment of addictional temple stats. So real major benefit. It is just fun to think about

15 new hymns were released this morning, bringing the total of new hymns released thus far to 60. Among the selections included are African American, Geerman, Korean, Tagolag, and Tongan pieces, in addition to one penned by our beloved prophet, Church President Russell M. Nelson. This brings the total number of released new hymns to 60, which is just about 1/6 of the 375 or so hymns that will be included. See the following updates for more information:
https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/hymn-written-by-president-nelson-included-in-latest-release
https://www.thechurchnews.com/members/2025/09/18/twelve-new-songs-fifth-batch-hymns-for-home-and-church-hymnbook-project/
I am curious to learn what the ratio of new hymns to the "core collection" is. With just about 2 years until the English version of the new hymnbook is made available, hopefully we learn more about that in the coming months. My thanks once again to you all.
Prince George British Columbia Stake is a relatively close 2nd to Vernon. Prince George (8 hr) is much further than Vernon (4.5 hour) but it's not the only thing I considered. Vernon is still far enough for overnight travel (4.5 hour drive each way +2.5 hour at temple = 11.5 hours which is more than recommended time on the road).
Factors that put Vernon ahead of Prince George on my list:
- Prince George has a lot of units but only 4 wards. Vernon has 9 wards and 3 branches. There's more wards in proximity to the Vernon location. Vernon temple could also be announced as Kelowna or Kamloops due to member presence in those locations.
- Prince George is a more spread out stake making distance still be a factor for temple attendance frequency/participation for some parts of the stake.
A couple are familiar to me, and others I look forward to learning.
The Tongan hymn was written by a mrmber of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tonga and first published in 1920.
The African-American hymns are "Go Tell It on The Mountain" with a chorus of unknown origin but the verses are by John Wesley Work II (or John Wesley Work III). The published listing ifms the first but it is clearly the guy Wikipedia calls by the second name, because John W. Work Jr. Was 15 years dead when thry were published. They all had connection to Fisk University.
The other is "Stand by Me" (one of multiple hymns/songs with that title) this bring the one by Charles A. Tindley. Tindley was the son of a slave who became a pastor of a congregation of 10,000 people in Philadelphia in the early 20th-century. Based on the first line I am tempted to call it "When the Storms of Life are raging". This puts us to 5 hymns with African-American origin. "Stand by me" is the only one we fully know the original writer. Although there are places the work has been published without attributing it to Timdley. Hymns for home and church makes sure to name Timdley though.
Daniel, I'm just catching up on these posts. I wish I could give you peace on these points, and I'll try to speak to your concerns with that goal in mind.
This is not an 'American church' by any means. This is Christ's church, and wherever His disciples are, there is his church. Only a bit more than 1% of Americans self-identify as Latter-day Saints, so our influence here is small, and members are more likely influenced by the politics of the nation than the other way around. I believe the restrictions on priesthood before 1978 are a reflection of how American politics influence even leaders in the church who should know better.
That said, this IS where Christ reestablished His church. I do believe that the historical path of the United States has made this possible. The dramatic rise of the United States in the twentieth century has closely aligned with the dramatic expansion of the church around the world. This country has had enormously positive impacts on the world, but also many negative ones (as Brazilians well remember).
Two things can be true. Satan has great influence around the world, and he uses that influence to block the spread of the restored gospel both collectively and individually. Sometimes specific things done by the American government clearly reflect his evil influence.
Likewise, Jesus Christ has enormous influence, and that includes a remarkable capacity to take things that have both positive and negative effects and turn it to His purpose. American capitalism is quite predatory, it also blesses billions as nations around the world follow parts of this model and improve lives for their people (in a long-term view, Brazil has been a living testament to that benefit).
Utah was once a poor state, isolated, dusty, and backward. Now it is an economic powerhouse, and the surplus tithes of members here have created an enormous financial reserve for the church. Decades ago, local members had to pay to build church buildings and temples, now the church's wealth allows us to build temples and churches for faithful members in very poor areas. Jesus Christ is not a capitalist, but He does make use of the capitalist engine of the United States to bless His disciples all over the world - even as Satan makes use of it to promote inequality, pride, pollution, corruption, and so forth. Capitalism is neither good nor evil, but Christ can use imperfect things to achieve His purposes.
I'm a lifelong Democrat, though my politics are moderate. I view Republican ideals as being callous, proud, dishonest, and un-Christian - in spite of their pretenses otherwise. Democrats frustrate me for being weak willed, ineffective, prone to moral ambivalence, and absolutely unable to understand the importance of faith and family. I don't want to debate those points, it is just how I feel.
I've struggled with this in the church. Many members of the church are Republicans, and they often absent-mindedly indicate this at church or on social media. Here's what gives me relief:
First, most Republicans (and Democrats) are good people. They tend to inherit their political biases from their parents (as I did), and their views tend to be unchallenged due to where they live, who they interact with, and the media they consume (I do the opposite, having moved from Vermont to Utah). In general, I really like Latter-day Saints wherever I find them. We are mostly kind, generous, self-deprecating, and gentle.
continued...
Second, there is a wide spectrum of belief within the Republican Party and its supporters. In America you have MAGA extremists (who I will not discuss) and you have moderates. I find that compared to other similarly Republican states, like Idaho and Wyoming, Utah Republicans are much more moderate. I attribute that to the moderating influence of the gospel on members of the church (about half of Utah self-identifies as Latter-day Saint). I do find MAGA extremists in the church, and it is repugnant, but I often find that the more MAGA a member is, the less devout they are. I've known people who have left the church because it wasn't MAGA enough (a close friend fit this bill), as well as those who left for being TOO MAGA (my brother, for example). I find that the more a person objects to the politics of others, the more likely they are to waver in their faith. As a sidenote, many of the most MAGA members I've met are part of the 'Boomer' generation, perhaps due to decades of media manipulation?
I loathe Donald Trump. I am hard pressed to find a single thing he says or does that I support. I cannot identify a single Christ-like quality in him, and I find that his influence both in America and around the world is deeply toxic and destructive to the Church, the gospel, and the Savior's purposes. Black and white thinkers will immediately sputter about the evil deeds of various Democrats, but so what. My assessment of Trump is not political, it is entirely in comparison to the one man I know is infallible, my Savior, Jesus Christ.
As much as I loathe him, I do not have any grudge against others who support him. We are all imperfect sinners struggling to make our way in the world. Others may sin differently than I do, but they ultimately need the same remedy I hope to receive. I choose to love them regardless.
So my friend, please don't allow your dislike of Trump (which I strongly agree with), or your observations of America's failings (which are completely valid) to influence your faith in this church. This is Jesus Christ's church. Everything else is just mists of darkness. Hold fast to that Iron Rod, and rely on our Savior. He is mightier than all the evil you are witnessing.
I wish people would refrain from political discourse here. There are enough places on the internet where political discourse can occur. I wish people would not bring up such things here.

I would like to throw in a temple prediction even though I have stopped making formal lists a couple of years ago now. I don't think this has been talked about much:
Weiser ID or Ontario OR.
While these stakes north of Boise are not that isolated, anecdotally the temples in Boise and Meridian are very busy and a fourth temple in this general part of Idaho or across the border in Oregon may make sense. I do believe we will likely see several new stakes created in that vicinity in the coming years but currently a district could cover these stakes, most of which are large enough by unit number to split:
- Weiser, Idaho
- Emmett, Idaho
- Ontario, Oregon
- Nyssa, Oregon
- LaGrande, Oregon
I know there will be eventually a Caldwell Temple constructed but in my view, this will likely serve more of a core area of Caldwell/Nampa/Middleton.
Here are 59 Stakes in Africa, Asia, Brazil, Canada, Caribbean, Central America, and Europe Areas that I know of that have Stake Conference this weekend. We know of at least 2 of them the Edmonton Alberta Gateway and Edmonton Alberta Riverbend are creating a new Stake. The Beaumont Alberta Stake. Are there any others that look like possible splits or mergers?

Mwene-Ditu Democratic Republic of the Congo
Both of these have 11 wards, and Mwene-Ditu also has two branches. If we're going to see 12 more stakes in Africa Central, these are two of them in all likelihood. (We may not get 12.)
Michael, another one i have on my radar is the Cococodji Benin Stake (2125889) which has another conference on November 16th, 2025. I believe they had another conference within the last few weeks. And November seemed too soon for another. It also has 11 Wards and 2 Branches.

I know believe a second Temple in Kinshasa is very likely. The city has gone from 3 million people to 10 million people in the last few years. One of the temple workers on my shift is originally from Kinshasa. He recently went back on a visit. Traffic eas so bad he was not able to make it to the temple. This makes me think a 2nd Temple, close to the airport and thus near the eastern end of the urbanized part of Kinshasa makes sense. The travel time for those people is cut a lot, those coming from the airport from places like Kusabgani have a shoulder journey, and those coming from places like Kikwit most likely have travel time reduced to less than half.

Beyond this the Kinshasa DR Congo Temple is only 12,000 square feet. Once all announced temples are completed, a current 18 stakes and 3 districts would be assigned to the temple, plus some amount of branches directly under the mission. There are temple essentially the same size that have half as many stakes that have had additional temples announced. I know at present there are 4 temples that when completed will reduce the size of the Kinshasa rktemple district, but it will be over capacity. In fact it is likely Kinshasa will get additional stakes but the end of the year. We will probably also see more districts and maybe even another stake in the outlying areas. Kisangani is modest likely, and it might get a temple announced not longer ammeter it gets a stake, but at least one more temple for Kinshasa is needed if possible befpelre 2030. It might not be poss8ble to dedicate it by 203p if announced next month, but I am starting to think a second Kinshasa Temple is one of the most needed temples. Aba Nigeria Temple does have more stakes per square foot than Kinshasa, but it has 6 instead of just 4 additional temples announced.
Aba is 500 square feet smaller than Kinshasa. At 11,500 square feet it is currently the temple with the biggest temple district. It has 80 stakes. Second is Mexico City with 78 stakes. Mexico City about 10 times the size. It has at least 8 new temples being built in its district. Torreon, San Luis Potosi, Queretero, Mexico City Benemerito, Pachuca, Tula, Cuernavaca and Tolucca.
Ogden Utah Temple evidently has 48 stakes. I believe this is the largest temple district without any temples about to take from it. Salt Lake City is at 46. However Salt Lake City is a truly gargantuan temple. On the other hand I think it will have a lot of visitors come once it has been rededicated. I really think both those temple districts could have another temple announced.
Although will Saltake Temple loose any stakes to Heber Valley Temple?
The temple related website has the two Elko stakes listed with the Salt Lake Temple still. Park City and Kamas stakes will probably go to Heber Valley Temple. That temple will also probably take the Coalsville stake from the Ogden Temple, and maybe the 3 stakes it has in Wyoming.
A temple in northern Weber County to me seems the most likely next one announced in Utah.
A continuation of my above list. Here is the next 46 Stakes that are having Conference this weekend 09/20-09/21/25, in Europe North, Mexico, Pacific and Philippines Areas. I still have the South America, and North America and Utah Areas to make a list of the next Stake Conference dates from the Meetinghouse site.

The other day I looked into the appointment booking for the Kinshasa Temple. It seems the booking system isn't being used at all (or very very little). I know we don't expect most people in Kinshasa to be running around with computers, but even with phones the system doesn't look to be used almost at all. Any info on this?
Temples that are well visited but have limited capacity usually see more booking for limited ordinance seats. I do think a second Kinshasa temple is coming soon, but it might take some more time.
Park City and Kamas will both likely go to the Heber Temple and the Elko Temple will take two more stakes from Salt Lake's 46 stake district (you can reference this on the temples site under the district page while also using a map). That takes Salt Lake down to 42.
Whether all those stakes are needed to staff the renovated Salt Lake, or whether that district will be halved (19 stakes going to a potential Cottonwood/Sandy temple is for the Prophet to decide. There could always be temple missionaries called from the Bountiful, Taylorsville, South Jordan, and potential Cottonwood districts that would provide additional workers for Salt Lake while the grand majority of the members attend their local temple (kind of like YSA Bishops).
Ogden could have its district split by a Pleasant View/Willard Temple, but more likely very soon a Morgan or SW Wyoming temple- this would reduce the district by 3 or 6 stakes depending on the location- leaving Ogden with 42. Does anyone have updates on how Ogden is doing after the recent dedication of Syracuse? Are there enough workers? How is the parking lot? (it was always stuffed before Syracuse was dedicated). The baptistry looks pretty full so an additional temple up by Weber High School may be very plausible very soon.
I wouldn’t compare reservation patterns in Africa with patterns in the rest of the world. The cultural differences are immense, and the leisure time and retirement population is different. More centrally, I doubt smart phones are universal in Africa, and even if I’m wrong about that, there could easily be cultural differences that make Africans less likely to register online.
Could I be wrong? Of course. But there are enough differences to flag the possibility.
I am in the Syracuse, Utah South Stake, and we have a stake conference tomorrow, but I don't think we are splitting. We have 12 wards; our ward is massive and will continue growing until the houses are built. My family is in different stakes in Davis County, and they are all massive and need splits.
Regarding Temple, Texas, I find the new stake there very exciting. We lived there for 5 years up until about 9 years ago. When we arrived, Kileen, Waco, and Temple/Belton were all in the Kileen Stake. Waco and Temple/Belton split off while we lived there. I think there were perhaps 2 wards and a branch or two at that time in the Temple area. The Belton Ward came around that same time for a third ward in the city. And to hear of it so quickly progressing to its own stake is incredible. It is a great town with kind, faithful, down to earth people.
We have long thought it would be a funny temple place name, the Temple Texas Temple. I do feel that with Austin's new temple still in progress and location on the north side of Austin (in the direction of Temple ~50 minute drive) any Temple temple seems far off. And it may be that Waco would get the honors instead, who knows. Well, I guess He knows.
This is my prayer and predictions:
La Paz México Temple
Durango México Temple
Zacatecas México Temples
Tepic México Temple
León México Temple
Morelia México Temple
Acapulco México Temple
Posa Rica México Temple
Orizaba México Temple
Coatzacoalcos México Temple
La Habana Cuba Temple
The Lake Highlands and Garland 1st Wards in the Dallas East stake were combined today to create the White Rock Ward. Weird that there was a ward consolidation less than a year after the stake split.
One of my roommates told me that his grandfather works at the temple department, and that their goal is to have 750 temples, because that would place every stake within an hour of a temple. It would be really cool if they could achieve that, but I can see some logistical problems, such as needing two temples in Russia (because the two stakes are 7 hours apart).
My branch had another baptism today. It was a woman and her children old enough to be baptized, I believe 3 in all. I first met her a few years ago at a family support event through Big Brothers Big Sisters but I had nothing to do with her learning about the church.
We have gone from two sets of missionaries to 3 serving in my branch. The new set is sisters. The shocking think is that where I live is assigned yo the sister missionaries. In thd past thry have only covered Grosse Poibte. Thos time they have almost 3 square miles in Detroit. Not any of the worst areas in the city, but this is a change from past thinking.
We also have an 18-year-old about to get his mission call. We have not had any missionaries leave from our branch since 2020.
Interesting insight, Thomas! I'm fascinated by that. Did your roommate mention anything about the projected time-frame within which the Church hopes to get to 750 temples in any phase? We know that at some point, before the Savior comes again, the doors of Russia and China will be open to the Church, even though it may take a lot of things changing to get to that point in those nations. So, with that in mind, I could see a second Russia temple announced for St. Petersburg, especially once the current Russia temple is either under construction or dedicated. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord will open the doors for that to happen in due course. How soon that might be, I can't say, but there will be a coming day in which temples are dedicated to serve both stakes. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are more stakes created in that nation between now and then. When the Lord wants it to happen, it will happen. Just my thoughts here. Again, thanks for that interesting insight. I am very intrigued to see how soon that goal may be reached and/or exceeded.
