For the first time, statistical profiles for the constituent countries in the United Kingdom are available on www.cumorah.com. The Church has not published annual membership totals by year for the constituent countries in the United Kingdom since 2011. However, I have obtained some membership figures since this time from official Church sources although this data has been inconsistent. Overall, the Church has reported stagnant growth or slight decline in the United Kingdom during the past decade. See below for a list of these profiles:

It would be amazing for Cardiff to get its own temple. I wonder if the local membership gets increased activity by having their own nearby temple, this seems natural, by having its ownership and relative ease of access to thousands of faithful members.
I attended the Toronto Temple once, in 2013, and it was not a big temple feel like Washington D.C., but Kensington, MD is unique in its membership and number of stakes within one hour and then two hours, and on up to maybe five hours away.
Plymouth to Cardiff would save time to London, I think... I'll check that.
Eduardo, Cardiff had two wards now only one, so I think a temple is un likely. The London and Preston temples are only busy on Saturday's. Most wards in the UK are struggling. The three wards nearest to me in southern England have 50, 35 and 15 active members! Those who joined in the 1960s and 70s are dying off and very few of their children are active. Both Seventh day Adventists and Jehovah's witnesses are much bigger than the church. Where I live there is no ward or branch you have to drive half an hour in either direction for a small ward, yet Jehovah's witnesses have two congregations in my town!
The next two temples in the UK seem most likely to go to Edinburgh Scotland and Bristol, Birmingham, or Manchester England. I received information a long time ago that the next UK temple would go to Scotland before anywhere else. But I agree that any place in which the Church is not well-established will likely not see a temple, and that includes Wales. It appears that any progress of the Church that was achieved as a result of Elder Perry's year-long stint as president of the Europe Area (2004-2005) has since diminished.
With respect to that, I have wondered if there will ever be a time when the Church might again send any of the Twelve out to preside over any Church areas for a time. Imagine Elder Uchtdorf being sent to direct things in Europe, Elder Gong being sent to Asia, or Elder Soares serving in Brazil. Might be a cool scenario. That said, I am hopeful that the Church will see some positive developments occur once things flatten out worldwide in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic. I'm hopeful that areas that trend towards problematic issues might then be able to get past them.
Of course, that's no more and no less than my own opinion here, based on thoughts that came to mind when I read the earlier comments on this thread. With that noted, I wanted to mention that the Church today confirmed that the groundbreaking for the Salta Argentina Temple will indeed take place on August 15. That announcement had originally appeared on the Newsroom site temporarily on Monday, but was taken down and only resurfaced today:
