New Stake in California

Last Sunday a new stake was created in California.

The Lake Elsinore California Stake was created from a division of the Menifee California Stake.  The new stake includes the following seven wards: The Canyon Lake, El Cariso Ward (Spanish), Lake Elsinore, Newport YSA, Ortega, Temescal Canyon, and Wildomar Wards.

There are now 157 stakes in California.

A new ward was created in the Lansing Stake this weekend. The Meridian Ward was formed from parts of the Holt, Williamston and Lansing Wards, although the realignment also involved changes to the boundaries of the St. Johns branch.

This is quite encouraging, because about 5 years ago they eliminated a ward in Lansing stake. The new ward covers a very different area than the ward that was eliminated 5 years ago did.
