New District In Nigeria

Another new district was created in Nigeria. The Ikot Ekpene Nigeria District comprises seven branches and was created from mission branches in and around Ikot Ekpene in the state of Akwa Ibom. The city of Ikot Ekpene has over 200,000 inhabitants and sits in one of the most densely populated states in Nigeria. This is the third new district created in the state of Akwa Ibom in the past six months with other districts organized in Ibiono and Oron. There are now 16 stakes and 17 districts in the country.

The area in southeastern Nigeria has become a pillar of strength for the Church in Africa. Below is a map of the stakes and districts in this portion of the country, where the temple is also located in Aba.

Thank you for this carefully assembled and tended information. I've been trying to learn whether there is any LDS presence in Goma, DR Congo, and your information and maps clarified for me where there are and are not church units at the moment. Thank you very much.

Yeah, I do not believe there is any Church presence in any of the cities on the eastern side of the DR Congo. However, we have had humanitarian missionaries from the Uganda Kampala Mission visit refugee camps on the border of Uganda and the DR Congo. I would be interested to find out of we have any groups in other large cities in the DR Congo such as Kisangani, Mbandaka and Tshikapa.
