Missionaries in Kosovo report that two cities recently opened to missionary activity for the first time. Prizren (pop: 85,119) and Pejë (pop: 48,962) now have missionaries and appear to have had member groups organized that are likely led by the missionaries. The Church assigned its first young, proselytizing missionaries to Kosovo in mid-2011. Within the past couple months, the Church organized its second Kosovar branch in Gjakova. The opening of two additional cities to missionary work has coincided with the organization of the first stake in Albania where the Adriatic South Mission is headquartered. The Church frequently experiences accelerated national outreach expansion in countries following the organization of the first stake.

More and more LDS missionaries are serving in predominantly Muslim nations. It is a great blessing that our elders and increasingly more sisters go into large pockets of Islamic communities and spread the Christian message and the Restoration, leading up to the shared vision of Jesus (Isa ) returning for the Final Judgment.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder how the Church deals with the sensitive political issues in a place like Kosovo (and now the Crimea). Does our sending missionaries to Kosovo affect our relations with Serbia negatively? Do we send Serbian-speaking missionaris as well as Albanian-speaking missionaries, or do we just stay out of the Serbian-majority communities?
ReplyDeleteHi Matt,
ReplyDeleteI know this isn't a tech forum, but how did you create the coloured areas/regions on the google map? I'm creating a similar map for our region of branches in Burundi and am having trouble.
Thanks!
