Thanks for this report, Matt! It's wonderful to see the work continuing to progress, even in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks for keeping us informed on these developments. Keep up the great work!

Matt, I'm wondering how you find out/know what "new" locations the church reaches?

My branch president yesterday sent an email to the branch council saying that we might resume meetings on July 26th.

I was hoping we would move a little faster than that. We are limited to 25 total people in the meeting. Our normal attendance before COVID-19 was 75-100, but that probably meant more than 100 would show up at least once in a month. The logistics of reopening are taking some planning.

The situation in Michigan may also soon get out of control. Michigan has just seen bars but not restaurants shut down. The cut off for indoor seating allowed is 70% of sales. I think if less than 70% of sales are alcohol you can stay open. Lots of other new regulations as well.

Unknown, I am not Matt, and cannot speak for him. But I seem to recall him mentioning previousy that the information he provides in that respect is obtained through resources made available by the Cumorah Foundation. Additionally, because he regularly accepts survey information from members and missionaries around the world, I wouldn't be surprised if he has dev3eloped a network of contacts in various parts of the world that help him gather that information. Matt (or anyone else) can correct or clarify anything I have said here, but that's what I seem to recall him mentioning previously as being the case.

I wonder if Albanians are helping Kosovars and Macedonians in fellowshipping and missionary work?

@Keaton, so far on Classic Maps, on the Texas Dallas East, Texas Austin + Ecuador Guayaquil East missions have been updated in the maps. You can search by their names or Unit #'s assigned.

Texas Dallas East -
Texas Austin -
Ecuador Guayaquil East Mission - 2153475

Although the Guayaquil East Mission boundaries are not fully drawn as of today, the other dayI posted here the Stakes/Districts assigned to each of the 3. You can refer to my previous posts.

We are still waiting for the remaining 5 new missions to update in Classic Maps. No known unit # assigned.

1) Brazil Recife South
2) Cameroon Yaounde
3) Ethiopia Addis Ababa
4) Mozambique Beira
5) Tanzania Dar es Salaam

4 of these 5 are located in Central/South Africa where travel restrictions may still be in place for President to take the leadership of each. The 5th is in northeast Brazil, the 2nd highest number of COVID-19 cases worldwide in Brazil. and may delay the President to arrive also for travel restrictions. These are just my opinions and not the words of the Brethren.

But my best guestimate of assigned Stakes/Districts for each would be :

Brazil Recife South
562211 Caruaru Brazil
523550 Garanhuns Brazil
522775 Jaboatão Brazil Litoral
521744 Jaboatão dos Guararapes Brazil
515302 Recife Brazil Boa Viagem
524425 Recife Brazil Imbiribeira
520829 Recife Brazil Jardim São Paulo
460966 Palmares Brazil

Cameroon Yaounde
2088363 Douala Cameroon
1862391 Yaounde Cameroon

Ethiopia Addis Ababa
1123769 Addis Ababa Ethiopia

Mozambique Beira
423076 Beira Mozambique
2045281 Beira Mozambique Manga
2152568 Chimoio Mozambique
2109018 Nampula Mozambique

Tanzania Dar es Salaam
481475 Dar Es Salaam Tanzania

You can view the Classic Maps site to search for the Missions as they become available, and/or search by these units and click the Missions button in the left hand dropdown menu on the maps to see assigned missions of each.

Another UNOFFICIAL resource to see when the Classic Maps has been updated is :

Your welcome.

Another reference about updating the 8 new Missions, from the 2020 Mission Presidents seminar held friday and saturday.

https://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders-and-ministry/2020-06-29/2020-virtual-mission-leadership-seminar-187910

There is a photo of Pres. Dudley and his companion, assigned as President of new Ethiopia Addis Ababa Mission, from their home in Greensborough, Australia. There may have been a delay in his travel plans from Australia to Ethiopia this week. or Religious Visa issues.

Also mentioned in the article, "New mission presidents and companions, who normally serve for three years, will begin their service on or near July 1 or when travel restrictions allow relocation to an assigned country.

As of July 2020, the Church will have 406 missions worldwide, including eight new missions — the Brazil Recife South, Cameroon Yaounde, Ecuador Guayaquil East, Ethiopia Addis Ababa, Mozambique Beira, Tanzania Dar es Salaam, Texas Austin and Texas Dallas East missions."

Questions about Albania... Sorry, few answers.

Jonathan: Is your niece a child of record or considered a convert, age 9 plus?

Congrats either way, best wishes in supporting her. I have at least... 9 or more nieces that could or should be active church members but are not. They live in at least three states across the United States.

Best of luck and blessings keeping our young men and women in the fold. Do whatever you can and love and embrace them.

Updated today on Classic Maps, the new "Tanzania Dar es Salaam Mission - 2141930" was added.

https://classic.churchofjesuschrist.org/maps/#ll=-6.501348,36.859131&z=6&m=google.road&layers=stakecenter,mission&q=Tanzania%20Dar%20es%20Salaam%20Mission&find=mission:2141930

Which includes the "Dar es Salaam Tanzania District - 481475".

@Eduardo

My comment above about my niece's baptism didn't appear at first (it had to be approved by Matt, probably because of the hashtag I included). There were only two comments on this post ahead of mine when I commented on July 4th in the evening, but since mine finally appeared, more than a dozen previous comments have also appeared. It's either a glitch or maybe Matt has to manually approve comments now?

Johnathan Reese Whiting said...

Yep. That last comment I made said it needs to be approved, too. So I'm guessing Matt is manually approving each comment now - probably because of the recent volume of spam we've seen on these threads.

@Eduardo

Thanks for the well-wishes. She's a child of record. Her dad baptized her and I got to do the confirmation and blessing. :)

Here's hoping your nieces reactivate at some point.

Eduardo, just got a report from my grand niece serving in Albania. She says that they do a lot of online teaching and have had good results. After some online meetings they arrange to meet in person for continuation of the gospel instruction. She's very happy with the work.
