Last Sunday a new stake was created in Tonga.
The Nuku'alofa Tonga Malapo Stake was organized from the Nuku'alofa Tonga Mu'a and Nuku'alofa Vaina Stakes and includes the following six wards and one branch: The Alakifonua, Holonga, Malapo,
Pelehake, Vaini 3rd, and Vaini 4th wards and the Longoteme Branch. The neighboring Nuku'alofa Tonga South Stake was also realigned and several wards were transferred to the Nuku'alofa Tonga Vaina Stake. The new stake becomes the third new stake created in Tonga since 2008.

There are now 19 stakes and two districts in Tonga notwithstanding a tiny population of 106,000.
The Aerodrome Branch, Democratic Republic of the Congo Lubumbashi Mission, was created on 24 November. There are now 8 independent branches in the mission:

A comment on the Cumorah facebook page mentioned that Europe surpassed 100,000 at sacrament for the first time. Great to hear the news of units strengthening. It is interesting to hear unpublished numbers from those in positions to share them.
ReplyDeleteIt was also nice to see that a new stake was made in the Philipines, especially one upgraded from a district. About a year ago an area seventy said that even though there are just under 700k members only roughly 100k (like Europe) went to church. The fact that many of the district have bene becoming stakes is very promising for the future of the church in the Philippines.
Video from a PBS article article on the missionary surge has someone at the MTC saying that there are currently over 82,000 missionaries.
