Updated Potential Temple Sites Map

In preparation for any possible temple announcements tomorrow in General Conference, I have updated the map displaying the locations of potential future LDS temples. These locations were identified based on a variety of factors that often predict new temple announcements such as distance from the nearest LDS temple, number of stakes potentially serviced by a new temple, current temple utilization trends as indicated by the number of endowment sessions scheduled at the nearest temple, and duration of an LDS presence. None of these temples have been officially announced by the Church. Five additional locations were added to the map for this latest update, including Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire; Harare, Zimbabwe; Maracaibo, Venezuela; Pensacola, Florida; and Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Your comments and feedback are welcomed and encouraged.

A number of other possibilities, of course, but I would add Torreon and Tooele to your list.

I really like the idea of Edinburgh

Cedar city should be a strong cosideration the university there has the highest percentage of LDS students outside church owned schools. The students can't hardly get into St george for baptisms. I don't think there is a university in utah Idaho or nevada with membership that strong or concentrated without a temple to strengthen so many YSA 's or student marrieds

I must say I was quite disappointed not to hear a few more temple announcements this time around, but I shall remain strong and endure until October :)

Problem with Zimbabwe as told to me by a missionary in Kenya from Zim.: Mugabe is unlikely to approve construction of a building that he himself would not be allowed to enter. Sadly, I have to agree. But reliable sources do agree that it is high on the list for Africa.

Great web site and wonderful ideas. How about Helena, Montana? We used to live there and it is about 4 hours to a temple on often wintry roads and could service 6-8 stakes. Not as familiar with Tacoma, Washington but looks like there might be a dozen stakes in that area.

I'm curious as to why you think Edinburgh and not Glasgow will be where the first temple in Scotland will be.

Regarding Mugabe and Zimbabwe not getting a temple: I'd heard variations on that story regarding France and Italy, but right now Paris has an announced temple and Rome has one under construction.
