Last Sunday, the Church created a new stake in France. Contrary to some missionary reports I received, only one new stake was organized and I apologize for the misinformation. The Paris France South Stake was organized from a realignment of the Angers France, Paris France, and Paris France East Stakes and includes the following five wards and five branches: Antony, Évry, Le Mans, Melun, and Orléans Wards and the Alençon, Blois, Bourges, Chartres and Tours Branches. The Church consolidated the Lorient France District with the renamed Angers France Stake (Rennes France Stake) and none of the six branches in the former district became wards. The Bordeaux France Stake also gained two units that previously pertained to the original Angers France Stake. With the realignment of stakes and the creation of the new stake, there are now no member districts in France.
Currently there are 10 stakes in France. Missionaries report that groundbreaking on the Paris France Temple may occur in the coming weeks.

There are only three districts left in Italy: Florence (Toscana and one province in Liguria); Rimini (eastern Emilia-Romagna and northern Marche); and Calabira. With this action in France, and the second stake in Rome, I wonder if something's going to happen soon at least with Florence and Rimini districts.
I had this information when the previous post was made, but there was no link to "contact the webmaster" that I could find anywhere on the website. How do we submit information on new stakes, etc., for this website?
I just post them in one of the most current threads, even if it is a different subject.
You could also fill out the Member Growth Survey near the top of the right-hand column on the main page of this blog.
I post it in the open because I arrogantly believe many people here care about my discoveries of new wards, branches, stakes, and districts.
Mike,
I care.
Mike,
I care.
Mike -- YES, many of us care about the information on unit changes that you and others in our "community" post here. Keep posting it in the open!
Same here, Mike. Please continue
@Grant Emery. Spill it, what's your information?
Here's my information, which I believe the blog already knows by now. It comes from the mission president's wife (translated by me):
"For everyone who wanted to know the new boundaries for the stakes in France: there are now 10 of them and no more districts! The work moves forward!
The Paris South Stake was created with the following units: Evry (stake center), Antony, Melun, Chartres, Orléans, Blois, Tours, Le Mans, Alençon, and Bourges.
The Angers Stake is now the Rennes Stake and now covers all of Brittany ("Bretagne" in French). The Lorient District therefore disappears [Lorient District was basically the region of Brittany] and the Cherbourg Branch [previously a mission branch] is now part of the Rennes Stake.
Limoges and Poitiers are now part of the Bordeaux Stake."
Side note: the France Paris Mission, though it now no longer has the Limoges and Poitiers units (the Bordeaux Stake is part of the France Lyon Mission), they were able to keep the missionaries who had been stationed there.
I care too. I wish there was even more to report!
The Paradise Ward, West Richland Washington Stake, was created on 15 September. There are now 8 wards and 1 branch in the stake:
Benton City Ward
Candy Mountain Ward
Desert Hills Ward
Highlands Ward
Lakes Ward
Paradise Ward
Prosser Ward
Rattlesnake Mountain Ward
Richland YSA Branch
I doesn't seem like that long ago when this stake was created.

France is an important place for our faith as much as many others.
I commented earlier how Mitt Romney seemed to do little favors for his mission land, and how a son (that I know) of his served there but seems to have no political future.
I wonder how many missionaries have served in France?
Is there a way to find out those types of historical numbers?
Keep up all the news, please.
My brother served in France
No, West Richland stake wasn't created that long ago. My in-laws are in Sunnyside 1st Ward in Yakima stake, across the road is Rattlesnake Mountain Ward in West Richland stake.
I served in France when it was part of the Belgium Brussels mission
I am wondering if anybody knows the stake that split in the shortest amount of years in the Southeast US. The stake I live, Apex NC in was created in 2004 and there are talks now to split the stake as soon as Nov 9 with Stake conference. We have a General Authority visiting that weekend. Just a water cooler question, but curious.
In May 1978 the Nashville TN stake took in a mission district and divided off the Hopkinsville KY stake. In December 1979 it divided off the Franklin TN stake.
15/09/2013 - It was created Itaqui-Bacanga Ward of São Luis Brazil Stake. Currently has 10 Wards Stake.

The Apex North Carolina Stake has 11 wards and 1 branch. It also has a temple inside its boundaries. It is possible that it would be split.
There were rumors that our stake (Fredericksburg Virginia) was going to be split in our stake conference a couple of weeks ago. Elder Hallstrom of the Presidency of the Seventy and Elder Homer (Area Seventy) were there. But, Elder Hallstrom stated that he was not sent to split the stake.
Elder Hallstrom did express disappointment (privately to the stake presidency) that only 1600 members attended the Sunday morning session--the stake with 13 wards and 2 branches averages over 2400 in attendance. Apparently 1/3 of the people that normally attend Sacrament Meeting didn't attend Stake Conference.
There were between 240 and 270 missionaries when I was there in the late 1990s. On a side note, those stakes are geographically enormous. Even with the fantastic train infrastructure in France, there's going to be a lot of heavy lifting in terms of travel from the High Council in each of these stakes.
